Writ by Infinri

Just-in-time context for Claude Code

Writ retrieves relevant project rules and documents for the task, then adds file-specific guidance before supported writes.

Rank what fits

Keyword and vector search find candidates. Graph relationships contribute to ranking. The ranked channel can return no rules when the best surviving raw cosine similarity is below 0.30.

Keep a mandatory floor

Mandatory rules are separate from ranking. The always-on channel delivers them according to their scope, so a weak search match does not remove a mandatory instruction.

Add context at the write

At supported write points, Writ adds guidance for the file. Available decision records, open questions and files that often change together can add context too.

What goes into a prompt?

The prompt bundle combines ranked rules, the always-on floor, methodology, decision Recall and ingested project documents within a documented 9,500-token budget. Not every section has a match on every prompt.

How do project documents become available?

Once the repository is registered as a Writ project, writ docs ingest --repo <repo root> makes its supported documentation available for retrieval. Check the installation and retrieval references before running it.

Does retrieving a rule enforce it?

No. A retrieved rule is text the model reads. Writ's fixed hooks perform blocking checks. Adding or editing a rule does not create a new blocking check. See what the approval gates actually check.

How well does retrieval work?

The maintainer has published a dated benchmark with confidence intervals and negative-query failures. It measures retrieval on a self-authored set. It does not demonstrate better code or higher rule compliance.
